Vol. 363 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Wexford Drainage Scheme.

101.

asked the Minister for the Environment in view of the serious pollution problems at Maudlintown, Wexford town, the proposals, if any, he has for the commencement of the Wexford main drainage scheme.

I approved the preliminary report for the Wexford main drainage scheme in July 1985. A major design change in the scheme has since been proposed by Wexford Corporation and is at present under consideration in my Department.

102.

asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals, if any, he has for the sanctioning of a main drainage scheme for Bunclody, County Wexford.

The initiation of proposals for a public sanitary scheme is a matter for the sanitary authority concerned. There are no proposals before my Department for a main drainage scheme for Bunclody, County Wexford.

103.

asked the Minister for the Environment if it is his intention to seek tenders for the construction of the Enniscorthy main drainage scheme County Wexford during 1986.

110.

asked the Minister for the Environment when approval will be given to the Enniscorthy town main drainage programme, County Wexford phase one; and if he will use his good offices to expedite this project in view of the importance of this development to Enniscorthy town and its hinterland.

I propose to take Questions Nos, 103 and 110 together. While revised contract documents for the Enniscorthy main drainage scheme were submitted to my Department some months ago, further consideration of the documents and progress with the scheme is dependent on the submission of a certificate from the Urban District Council confirming that all the necessary preliminaries have been completed.

104.

asked the Minister for the Environment when it is expected that work will be commenced on the Blackwater main drainage scheme in County Wexford.

There are no proposals before me in relation to this scheme but I understand that tenders are being examined by the local authority at present.
