Vol. 363 No. 10

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payment.

200.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will investigate the full and proper amount of redundancy moneys payable to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who has 36 years of service with his employer.

From inquiries made by my Department I understand that the person concerned was made redundant in January 1986. I am informed that he was not satisfied with the lump sum payment as calculated by his employer and that he refused to accept a cheque from his employer or to sign the redundancy certificate.

I now understand that the employer has prepared an amendment redundancy certificate and an increased payment taking account of overtime earnings and that these may be collected if the person concerned calls on his employer and signs the receipt portion of the certificate. If, however, the employee still fails to agree the amended calculation with his employer, it will be open to him to appeal to the Employment Appeals Tribunal for a determination of his entitlement.
