The provision of a breakwater at Cartron is closely associated with a proposal for harbour development at nearby Blacksod Pier. An engineering report and cost estimate for the Blacksod Pier scheme is at present being economically appraised by my Department. Pending a decision on the proposal for Blacksod it would not be practical to take a decision on the provision of a breakwater at Cartron.
