I have no proposals at present to bring forward legislation regarding the registration of architects.
This, however, is one of a number of matters being considered by the various Departments concerned in the context of the EC Directive of 10 June 1985 on the mutual recognition of diplomas, certificates and other evidence of formal qualifications in architecture, including measures to facilitate the effective exercise of the right of establishment and freedom to provide services. I do not, therefore, at this stage, wish to rule out the possibility of legislation.
