I initiated a three year programme in 1984 to provide more weighbridges to supplement the existing facilities. Under the programme ten weighbridges are being installed by road authorities at strategic sites throughout the country at an estimated cost of almost £900,000 which is being recouped by 100 per cent grants from my Department. Details of locations and actual or projected operational dates are included in a tabular statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report.
