Where a house is built other than under contract, a £2,000 grant is paid only where the house was not substantially completed by 1 May 1985. In this case my Department's inspector certified that a £1,000 grant should be paid and payment was made accordingly on 7 October 1985. The applicant has been requested to submit evidence in support of his claim for payment of the increased grant.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for an inspection to be carried out immediately for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who applied for a new house improvement grant of £5,000 in early December 1985.
