Vol. 364 No. 3

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

66.

asked the Minister for Labour when the statutory redundancy payments including lump sums will be paid to the eight persons employed by Kenmare Products and who were made redundant in January 1985; if he will confirm that his Department's portion of these grants has already been paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is not possible from the information provided to identify the persons referred to in the question. However, the position is that, so far as my Department is aware, statutory redundancy lump sums have been paid to all the former employees of the company concerned.

In relation to rebates of lump sums paid by the company, the position is as follows. The company was paid the full rebate due from the redundancy and employers' insolvency fund in respect of statutory redundancy lump sum entitlements paid to five employees who were made redundant in January 1985. In addition to this, redundancy rebates were also paid in respect of a further ten employees who were made redundant on various dates between December 1984 and February 1985.

A redundancy rebate due to the company in respect of statutory redundancy lump sums paid to two employees, who were made redundant in May and July 1985 is being offset by the Department against the company's liability in respect of statutory redundancy lump sums paid from the fund to 21 employees who were made redundant in November 1985.
