In so far as Cork prison is concerned the situation is as outlined in the reply to Question No. 19 of 23 October. The building of the new cell block is proceeding on schedule and the educational unit should revert to its normal use in a few months.
Since the reply of October last was given, it became necessary to utilise the prefabricated accommodation used for educational services at Arbour Hill prison to provide certain services for those prisoners found to be antibody positive to the AIDS virus. However, a further rellocation of space within Arbour Hill has since taken place and classes have now resumed.
