Vol. 364 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Marinas Proposal.

80.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works has considered proposals for marinas for (a) the Royal Irish Yacht Club and the Dún Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club, and (b) the Royal St. George Yacht Club and the National Yacht Club at (i) the West Pier and (ii) the East Pier, Dún Laoghaire Harbour; and the current position regarding these proposals.

A feasibility study involving the provision of marinas at the West Pier and the East Pier, Dún Laoghaire Harbour, was submitted by a joint working group representing the four yacht clubs in question. The detailed observations of the Commissioners of Public Works on the study were conveyed to the group which it is understood, is considering the issues raised. The National Yacht Club is pursuing separately the question of a relatively small marina in a part of the harbour between the root of the East Pier and the Mailboat (Carlisle) Pier. A submission in the matter, made by the club last December, is under examination by the commissioners.
