The figures above show vacancies which are filled on a temporary basis and the decision on filling them on a permanent basis will be made by the health boards when the budget allocations for 1986 have been examined.
There are a number of reasons why the vacant posts have not been filled. They arise from service developments, staff mobility and redeployment and decisions in respect of them are made on an ongoing basis by the management of the health boards. The vacancies in the process of being filled represent those which have been advertised, or for which interviews are being conducted at present, and include some which are listed as filled on a temporary basis.
