I am aware of the urgency involved. Primary responsibility for the planning and execution of a scheme to complete the improvement of Church Road, Killiney, rests with the local authority concerned, Dún Laoghaire Corporation.
Lands required for this scheme are the subject of a compulsory purchase order which the corporation submitted to me for confirmation in November 1985. Since valid objections against confirmation of the order have been made to me, I must cause a public local inquiry to be held into the objections. There will be no avoidable delay in making arrangements for the holding of the inquiry and in making a determination on the matter.
In view of my quasi-judicial functions in relation to the inquiry, the House will appreciate that it would not be appropriate for me to make any further comment on the proposed works at this stage.
