asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will outline any financial assistance by way of grants, consultancy fees or otherwise which have been paid to a company (details supplied) since its foundation, by the IDA or any other body for which he has responsibility; when the finance was paid; the purpose; and the persons to whom it was paid in each case.

Limerick East): I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that they have not given any financial assistance by way of grants to the company in question. They have, however, as a normal commercial transaction, made payments by way of fees to the company and its agents for overseas training which it undertook for the development co-operation division of the authority in 1984. As this is essentially a matter relating to the day-to-day administration of the IDA, it would be inappropriate for me to divulge further details of the transaction. I am informed by the other bodies for which I am responsible that no payments have been made by them to the company by way of grants or in respect of fees.
