asked the Minister for Health if he has any plans to provide additional finance for extra staffing required for Louth County Hospital; if he is aware of the serious situation of the NEHB in this regard; the finance, if any, he proposes to provide for this purpose in 1986, when payment will made to the NEHB and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The staffing of Louth County Hospital is primarily a matter for the North Eastern Health Board. I am aware that there were some problems recently in regard to staffing levels at this hospital. However, I now understand that the health board is in the process of remedying the situation and are doing so from within the non-capital grant which has been allocated to them for the current year. I trust that a satisfactory solution will be achieved.
