The Garda authorities have informed me that the television set was one of a number of items taken possession of by the Garda Síochána when, in accordance with the terms of a search warrant, they searched a flat on 26 January last.
All but three of the items were identified by the gardaí as having been stolen in burglaries in December 1985. Of the three items which were not identified as stolen property, two were returned in February. The last item, the television set, was retained for the purpose of further checking against lists of stolen property and was returned on 26 March.
