Vol. 365 No. 1

Written Answers. - AnCO Retraining Grants.

311.

asked the Minister for Labour if it is now the case that a retraining grant is no longer available for those over 25 from AnCO; when the decision was made; and if he will consider allowing retraining grants for the new Winstanley Shoes Co-op.

I understand that an application for a training grant has been received by AnCO from Winstanley Shoes Co-op. This application has been processed by AnCO and forwarded to the Industrial Development Authority for consideration under their new industry grants scheme.

The new Winstanley Shoes Co-op may be eligible for assistance under the enterprise allowance scheme operated by my Department if a majority of those setting up the Co-op are currently unemployed and have been receiving unemployment payments generally for at least 13 weeks. The local office of the National Manpower Service would be able to offer further advice on this scheme.

It is intended that during 1986 AnCO will provide training for approximately the same number of trainees as in 1985.
