Vol. 365 No. 1

Written Answers. - Forestry Report.

45.

asked the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry if he has yet completed his examination of the report of the review body on forestry; if the report has yet been considered by the Government; if any decisions have been made arising from the recommendations of the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Examination of the report of the review group on forestry has not yet been completed by my Department. In the meantime I have also invited various organisations, including the unions, to let me have their views on the report. A number of these have sought additional time to complete their consideration of the matter but I hope to have their views in the near future. When examination of the report has been completed by my own and other Departments concerned the matter will be submitted by me for consideration by Government in the normal way. I am not in a position to say at this stage when that will be but I would like to assure the Deputy that it is my aim to do so as quickly as possible.

Questions Nos. 46 and 49 re-entered for oral reply.
