asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware of the fact that much of the Army's equipment is now obsolete and badly in need of replacement; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Army Equipment.

There is a continuous programme of improving the equipment of the Defence Forces, including that of the Army, by the provision of modern, up-to-date equipment. This is being done on an ongoing basis within the financial constraints necessarily imposed on all Government spending. The capability of the Defence Forces to discharge their roles is kept under constant review and improvements as necessary are made. This capability will be enhanced when, for example, helicopters, currently on order, are delivered.
