Some few years back my Department considered a proposal to extend the pier at Ballycrovane. In view of the level of fishing from the pier it was considered that the substantial costs involved could not be justified economically on fishing grounds. There has been no change in that situation in the meantime that would justify the extension of the pier.
I should add that my Department grant-aided the provision of a lighted beacon on a rock hazard in the harbour and the removal of loose stones and debris from the berthage area.
