Vol. 365 No. 12

Written Answers. - Dental Treatment.

57.

asked the Minister for Health if a person (details supplied) Dublin 12, who is aged 13 years and who needs urgent dental treatment costing £300 can be assisted by the State, since her father who is self-employed has an approximate income of £135 and there are two other children to feed and clothe; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Eastern Health Board provides dental treatment for pre-school and national school children and for medical card holders and their dependants. Persons who are not in these groups but who feel they would experience hardship in providing dental treatment for themselves or their dependants may make an application to the chief executive officer of their health board. The health board examines each such application in the light of the financial circumstances of the applicant. The person concerned has not yet made an application to the health board for the provision of dental treatment on hardship grounds.
