In the four-month period ended 30 April 1986 a total of 265 armed robberies and armed aggravated burglaries were recorded by the Garda in the course of which property to the value of £2,012,450 was reported as taken. These figures are provisional at this stage.
In the same period in 1985, 233 such crimes were recorded in the course of which property to the value of £356,290 was reported as taken.
