Vol. 366 No. 6

Written Answers - Dublin North-Inner City.

53.

asked the Minister for Health the actions or activities which he proposes to undertake within the next 12 months with regard to improving the employment prospects and quality of life generally of people in the Dublin north-inner city area.

I have no specific proposals of the nature referred to by the Deputy.

There is, however, a number of projects either in planning or under construction for north Dublin city which, while having a broader compass than the inner city, will naturally also contribute towards the wellbeing of the residents of that area. The Deputy will find information about these projects in the Report on the Health Services 1983-1986 which I recently sent to all Members of the Oireachtas.

I draw his attention in particular to the rationalisation programme for general hospital services in the Dublin area (chapter 4), to the various preventive health programmes (e.g. immunisation, drugs, AIDS, etc.) set out in chapter 5, and to the community welfare programmes in chapter 7.
