asked the Minister for Labour if it is his intention to establish an unemployment resource centre in Sligo.
Written Answers. - Sligo Unemployment Centre.
The National Manpower Service is the point of contact for all persons seeking employment or places on training courses. The staff in the Sligo office consists of a regional director, an assistant regional director, an occupational guidance officer, three placement officers and clerical personnel. They are experienced and trained to provide a comprehensive service to the unemployed in relation to job vacancies, training opportunities and state aided employment programmes.
I understand that the Irish Congress of Trade Unions propose to establish a centre in Sligo later in the year to give assistance by way of advice and information to the unemployed. The activities of that centre will be developed in co-operation with those of other voluntary groups and will complement the work of the National Manpower Service.
