Vol. 367 No. 6

Written Answers. - Midleton (Cork) Hospital Lift.

65.

asked the Minister for Health the reason for the delay in commencing the work for the provision of a lift at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Midleton, County Cork; when he expects the work to begin; and if he will provide the shortfall, if any, between the amount collected and the final cost.

In February 1986 the Southern Health Board submitted plans to my Department for the provision of a lift at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Midleton. These plans have been examined by the technical staff of my Department and approval to proceed with the work has recently issued to the board.

The question of the date of commencement of the project is a matter for the health board and I understand that the work will be starting shortly. I have approved a capital grant of £25,000 as a contribution towards the cost of providing the lift. This will cover the difference between the total estimated cost of the project and the amount collected locally.
