Vol. 367 No. 8

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Business in the following order: Nos 9, 2 and 1. By agreement, the Dáil shall sit later than 9 p.m. today and not later than 11.30 p.m. and Business shall be interrupted at 11 p.m. Also, by agreement, No. 9 shall be brought to a conclusion not later than 5 p.m. today. Private Members' Business shall be No. 50, Motion 69.

Are the arrangements for taking today's Business agreed? Agreed.

With the permission of the Chair, I should like to raise on the Adjournment the report in The Irish Times of last Thursday to the effect that the Postal and Telecommunications Workers' Union had adopted a resolution instructing their branches to refuse to handle a particular category of mail.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.

I sought to raise by way of Private Notice Question the position of ICI losses and the fact that the administrator's report is seriously out of line with the estimated losses as announced by the Minister here last March and subsequently in a report. Because the Chair ruled the matter out of order at the time and because it has not been established that the taxpayer has been completely exonerated from meeting those losses, I should like to raise the matter on the Adjournment.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.

I submitted a question on the closure of the National Cardiac Surgery Centre at the Mater Hospital. I should like to raise that matter with the Minister for Health because it is urgent that a decision be made now.

I will consider the matter and communicate with the Deputy.
