I am aware that the efforts of the Garda Síochána to combat drug offences in the Dublin city centre area have met with considerable success. This success has been brought about through the efforts of a number of gardaí — members of the unit referred to in the question, members of the Drug Squad attached to Harcourt Square and members attached to other City Centre stations, many of whom have undergone special training in anti-drugs work.
The Garda authorities have informed me that a total of six members are currently assigned to the unit at Store Street station — it is the practice to augment this number as and when necessary.
