Vol. 367 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Secondary Schools.

83.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the need for a girl's secondary school (junior cycle) in the north city areas of Ballybough, North Strand, East Wall and district, Dublin 3; if he has received representations from the management of St. Vincent's school, North William Street, Dublin 1, for assistance to build a secondary school; if he will consider a response to the local demand for a school; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has not received any proposals in recent years for the provision of a girls secondary school in the Ballybough — North Strand — East Wall area. If an application is received it will be given full consideration. However, I should point out that the existing post primary schools in the general area and the proposed new north inner city vocational school will between them have sufficient accommodation to serve the needs of the pupils in question.
