I have received a proposal from CIE to acquire diesel railcars for use on outer suburban services and on services in the provinces. This proposal is being assessed in accordance with the arrangement for examining CIE capital projects and the guidelines for appraisal of public capital expenditure proposals.
I expect to have the assessment completed shortly with a view to an early decision.
