Vol. 368 No. 2

Written Answers. - Kenmare (Kerry) School.

107.

asked the Minister for Education his views on all decisions in relation to the proposed new community school in Kenmare, County Kerry taken to date being taken without any consultation with teachers and parents association with the Kenmare vocational school, contrary to clause 5.12 in the Programme for Action in Education, 1984-87; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department had consultations with County Kerry Vocational Education Committee and the Management of the secondary school in Kenmare, before a decision was taken to establish a single community school in the town. Both managements agreed to the establishment of a community school. Consultation at local level is a matter for the respective school authorities.
