The grant of £681 approved in this case in respect of the replacement of defective windows and doors is two-thirds of the cost of the works as estimated by the inspector using standard costings and represents the maximum grant payable in accordance with the conditions of the scheme.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a repeat prior inspection for house improvement grant approval purposes will take place prior to the first week in July for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; when work is due to commence, in view of the full amount of work to be done; and if he will ensure in all such prior inspections that appointment cards are issued to avoid misunderstandings as is the case with this application.
Grant approval of £664 which represents two-thirds of the inspector's estimate of the cost of replacing defective windows and doors has been notified to the applicant in this case. A further inspection by appointment is being arranged in view of the additional works mentioned by the Deputy. However, any question of the approval of an increase in the above amount will be subject to the further works being eligible for grant purposes and the particular works not having been commenced on date of inspection.
