The universities and the educational institutions designated under the Higher Education Authority Act, 1971, are autonomous institution and as such make their own arrangements regarding insurance. I understand, however, that they insure for public liability cover.
In relation to the regional technical colleges and colleges of technology it is the responsibility of the vocational education committee in whose areas the colleges are located to provide adequate insurance cover against damage by fire to the property and against public liability in the matter of accidents.
