Vol. 368 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire District Court.

7.

asked the Minister for Justice his views on the lack of accommodation, poor conditions and under staffing which presently exist in the District Court in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin; the action, if any, he intends taking; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that there are certain deficiencies in the court accommodation in Dún Laoghaire. The position is, however, that under the Courthouses (Provision and Maintenance) Act, 1935, the responsibility for the provision and maintenance of courthouses in the borough rests with Dún Laoghaire Borough Corporation. I understand that the corporation are taking steps to improve the position.

I am also aware that an increased volume of work is placing pressure on the staff of the Dún Laoghaire office. Assistance is being given and will continue to be given from other offices in the Dublin metropolitan district.
