Vol. 368 No. 9

Written Answers. - Mallow (Cork) Schools.

102.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the poor condition of the prefabricated classroom for 40 infants at Killavullen national school, Mallow, County Cork; and if he will expedite the architects' report with a view to having new facilities provided.

My Department's professional advisers have been asked for a report on the overall accommodation needs of Killavullen national school, County Cork. As soon as their report has been received and considered my Department will communicate with the school authorities. My Department's attention has not been drawn specifically to the condition of the prefabricated classroom.

103.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position in relation to the schools of St. Mary's post primary, Mallow, Patrician Academy, post primary, Mallow and VEC Mallow as regards the amount of funds that will be made available to each school; the type of development that has been sanctioned by his Department for each of the above; and the reason for the delay in sanctioning these developments.

Development projects at the schools in question are all at the pre-contract stage. Details are set out in the following tabular statement.

The estimated cost of public funding for the voluntary secondary school projects is not given. It is not the practice to give such information, on an individual basis, in relation to such schools which are private institutions. There has been no avoidable delay on my Department's part in dealing with any of these cases.
