The sum of £1.43 million has been provided for expenditure on the western package electrification scheme in 1986. At the end of September 1986 grant aid of £719,000 had been approved in respect of 339 applications under the scheme, leaving £711,000 available up to the end of December, 1986. Any money not taken up during the year will be carried over into next year.
