Vol. 369 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Liability.

110.

asked the Minister for Finance the precise level of tax liability for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford, under either capital acquisitions tax or capital gains tax; when a clearance certificate under the capital acquisitions tax regulations will be issued to him; and if he will consider expediting this in view of the poor circumstances.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that, in relation to capital acquisitions tax, they are in correspondence with the solicitors acting for the person concerned to obtain the information necessary to compute the amount of the inheritance tax liability. When that amount has been ascertained and paid, the required clearance certificate as respects that tax will be issued without delay. Liability to capital gains tax did not arise in respect of the relevant disposal.
