asked the Minister for the Environment the total cost to the Exchequer of all applications for home improvements grants approved to date.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 47 and 50 together.
The estimated value of grant approvals at the end of October 1986, including cases covered by the special dispensation from prior inspection, is £175 million. An amount of £24 million was provided in the current year to meet the estimated expenditure on grants likely to mature for payment before the end of the year. This provision will be adequate.
