asked the Minister for Defence if he will confirm that it is usual practice that all persons travelling on UN duty make a will; that in the case of soldiers and officers, such wills are maintained by his Department while, in the case of Army chaplains, such wills are given to the relevant diocesan secretariat.

While there is no requirement under Defence Force regulations for personnel of the Permanent Defence Force travelling on UN service to make wills, they are generally advised to do so. It is the normal practice that such wills are held for safe keeping by the military authorities. Chaplains, if they so wish, may forward their wills to the relevant diocesan secretariat.
