(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the allocation to each county in connection with storm damage which occurred this year.

The following grants were notified to local authorities towards the cost of remedial works on public roads (including bridges) arising from storm damage in 1986:

The grants were determined on the basis of the full approved cost of the repair-replacement of bridges and of 75 per cent to 100 per cent of the approved cost of other road works. The approved cost was calculated by the Department on the basis of submissions made by the local authorities.
