Vol. 371 No. 8

Written Answers. - Howth District Court.

60.

asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, he has to return Howth District Court to the Dublin North East area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Court business formerly taken at Howth has, since September 1985, been fully amalgamated with the business of the central Dublin courts. Having regard to the relatively low level of court business originating in this area and the need to make the best use of available resources I am satisfied that the resumption of court sittings in the Howth area is not justified. I am, in particular, satisfied that I would not be justified in calling upon Dublin County Council to incur the cost of providing accommodation for such sittings.
