In so far as my areas of responsibility are concerned, the non-civil service groups referred to are the Garda Síochána, traffic wardens and industrial staff and cleaners employed at Garda centres who are on the Exchequer payroll. Records relating to the distribution of these groups throughout the State are maintained on the basis of Garda divisions and it would take a disproportionate amount of Garda time to compile figures on the basis of the planning regions. The following table gives the numbers, as on 31 March 1987, in the Dublin Metropolitan Area (five divisions) and the 18 other Garda divisions. Part time cleaners employed at local level by Garda Superintendents are not included.
