Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

485.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork who has bought property and had it inspected in February 1987.

Additional information has been requested from the applicant and its receipt is awaited.

486.

asked the Minister for the Environment when approval will issue and when payment will be made in respect of a house grant for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

Applications for £5,000 surrender grants are handled by the relevant local authority up to the stage of certification for payment. The appropriate certificate has not been received in the Department in this case.

487.

asked the Minister for the Environment when approval will issue and when payment will be made in respect of a house improvement grant to persons (details supplied) in County Dublin.

A grant has been approved. When the applicant notifies that the outstanding work has been completed an inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

488.

asked the Minister for the Environment when approval will issue and when payment will be made in respect of a house improvement grant for applicants (details supplied) in County Dublin.

Approval has issued in one of these cases. When that applicant notifies completion of the work, an inspection will be carried out with a view to the payment of the grant. In the other case the issue of approval has been deferred pending the receipt of evidence of planning permission requested from the applicant.

489.

asked the Minister for the Environment when approval will issue and when payment will be made in respect of a new house grant for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

A decision as to whether a £2,250 new house grant is payable must await the receipt of additional documentation recently requested from the applicant.

490.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The grant will be paid as soon as possible.

491.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a mortgage subsidy applied for by a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid to the Housing Finance Agency.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a mortgage subsidy from the person named, at the address given.

492.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 whose home was inspected and who has not yet carried out work on replacement of windows will now qualify for grant aid.

A grant of £755 for window replacement has already been approved and is not affected by the recent termination of the grant scheme.

493.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12.

While there is no record of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant under the 1985 scheme from the person named, there is an application from a person with a different Christian name from the same address. In that case the application which was received on 20 March 1987 could not be allowed as an inspection was not carried out on or before 27 March 1987. However, grants in respect of the provision of a bathroom and sewerage were approved under the 1981 scheme and subject to the satisfactory completion of these works, these grants may be paid to the applicant.

494.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a house improvement grant will be approved for a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

As an inspection had not been carried out on or before 27 March 1987 a grant cannot be allowed.

495.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry whose application was delayed when his Department failed to supply him with a floor area certificate.

There has been no undue delay in this case. A decision in the matter must await the receipt of additional documentation requested from the applicant.

496.

asked the Minister for the Environment if early payment of a house improvement grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny where the work was inspected and passed on 9 March, 1987.

Payment of the grant will be made as soon as possible.

497.

asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of a house improvement grant approved for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if he will give details of the work which is being grant aided.

The application was among those covered by the dispensation from prior inspection announced in February 1986. Notification issued to the applicant authorising him to proceed with the work in respect of which his application was made subject to the conditions of the scheme (other than the prior inspection requirement) applicable when he applied for the grant. Notification of completion of the work has not been received. The amount of the grant will be determined after a final inspection.

498.

A maximum grant of £800 in respect of the replacement of defective windows and doors has been approved in this case.
