In accordance with the Government's decision as announced in the budget house improvement grants are being allowed where an inspection was carried out on or before 27 March 1987 and proposed works were found, on inspection to be eligible for grant assistance.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will raise the limits for house improvement loans in view of the removal of grants and if he will make a statement on the matter.

asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals, if any, he has to increase the maximum limit on the repair loan scheme from its current level of £6,500; and if so, when.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 30 and 424 together. I have no proposals to increase the maximum loan and income limits applicable to house improvement loans.
