asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the decision to suspend funding for the Dublin Metropolitan Streets Commission, he will revoke the orders made in Statutory Instrument S.I. No. 67 of 1987, transferring responsibility for refuse collection and road repairs to the commission; if he will ensure that adequate funds are provided to enable the corporation to carry out these functions; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

On 9 April 1987, I made an order entitled Dublin Metropolitan Streets Commission Act, 1986 (Termination of Transfer of Functions) Order, 1987, which terminated the transfer of roads, traffic management, litter and refuse functions to the Dublin Metropolitan Streets Commission. The funding of the particular services referred to in the question is, therefore, a matter to be determined in the normal way by Dublin Corporation as part of the estimates process.
