Vol. 372 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

77.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer ceased employment on 31 October 1986 and subsequently submitted to the Inspector of Taxes a claim for repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment. The claim was dealt with and a cheque in settlement was issued to the taxpayer on 21 January 1987.

A revised P45 together with an application form to enable the taxpayer to claim a further repayment, if he continued to be unemployed, were issued to him on 14 January 1987 but have not been returned. Until such time as the inspector receives those forms from the taxpayer he will not be in a position to deal with a further unemployment claim. The inspector wrote on 16 April 1987 to the taxpayer requesting the return to him of the completed forms but he has not yet received a reply. A copy of the inspector's letter was sent to the Deputy.
