The offender referred to by the Deputy was transferred from Mountjoy prison to Portlaoise prison on 3 December 1986 and was returned to Mountjoy prison on 25 March 1987. The operational requirements of the prison system necessitate transfers of prisoners between institutions. It is not the practice to give detailed reasons for such transfers in the case of individual offenders.
