asked the Minister for the Environment the road grants allocated to Clare County Council for 1985, 1986 and 1987 under (a) major improvement works, (b) normal improvement on national roads, (c) special works, (d) county road strengthening, (e) block grant, (f) maintenance national primary roads and national secondary roads and (g) special grants such as the ESB station at Moneypoint.

The amounts of the road grants paid to Clare County Council in 1985 and 1986 and the grants allocated for 1987 under each of the headings (a) to (f) of the question are as follows:—

Regarding (g) of the question, no specific road grants were allocated by my Department in relation to the road approaches to the development at Moneypoint. I understand, however, that the ESB has contributed towards the cost of these road works.
