Vol. 372 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

44.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason the correct rate of income tax rebate was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the taxpayer ceased employment in December 1986. A claim for repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment was dealt with by the inspector of taxes in March 1987 and, on the basis of the information available to the inspector, the correct refund then due was made to the taxpayer.

The inspector will now communicate directly with the taxpayer requesting the details which are necessary to enable a review of his tax liability for 1986-87 to be carried out. On completion of the review any further refund found to be due will be made.
