asked the Minister for Finance the authorised complement of (a) Secretaries, (b) Second Secretaries, (c) Assistant Secretaries and (d) Principal Officers in the Department of Finance for each year from 1981 to 1987 inclusive; the total salary costs for each of these grades for each year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The information requested is set out in the following tabular statement.

The following table sets out the salary costs of the grades identified for each of the years 1981 to 1986. The authorised complement of each grade is also shown. The salary costs are based on actual numbers serving and include Employer's PRSI Contribution.
