Vol. 372 No. 4

Written Answers. - Short Time Working.

43.

asked the Minister for Finance if the operatives employed by the Office of Public Works who are going on a four-day week will be entitled to draw pay related benefit for the fifth day of each week; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Following a review of financial allocations for Arterial Drainage, the Commissioners of Public Works have agreed that short time working on drainage maintenance schemes should operate on the basis of one week off (unpaid) for every four weeks worked between 4 May and 31 October, 1987 instead of one day off (unpaid) each week during the same period, as originally proposed. The position will be reviewed at the end of October and a decision taken at that time as to the extent of short time working for the remainder of the year.
