A grant cannot be allowed as an inspection was not carried out on or before 27 March 1987.

The application in this case is in respect of a new house grant only. A further inspection with a view to payment of the grant will be carried out when the applicant notifies my Department that the outstanding works have been completed.

asked the Minister for the Environment if it is in order for a registered subcontractor to carry out work on his own house, in order to qualify for a new house grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Yes, provided the subcontractor is registered as an employer with the Revenue Commissioners and a minimum of £15,000 of VAT registered work is undertaken by his employees and/or other registered subcontractors. Details of each employee involved (including PRSI numbers) must be submitted to the Department on completion of the work before a grant can be paid.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in having a house improvement grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, where the work was completed 12 months ago.
