The circular letter in question announced the introduction in 1985 of a scheme of 50 per cent capital grants towards the development of a network of co-disposal sites at which industrial and other wastes could be accommodated satisfactorily. Eight local authorities have since submitted tentative proposals but only one project has been judged to fulfil the grant criteria. This is located in the Cork Corporation area and assistance totalling £300,000 has been paid to the local authority.
